Hire at will, right to work, and the lack of your rights.

19 Dec

If you are for freedoms such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and so on ; yet you do not want to get fired over those “freedoms”. Then I sure hope you are against the ” hire at will” and ” right to work” laws in this country. The ” hire at will” and ” right to work” laws give the employers the upper hand . In the states that have “hire at will” laws ( most do, but some have stronger laws) and “right to work” laws ( a strong republican backed law) , an employee can be fired for absolutely anything they say or do while on or off of the clock.

If you are upset over the firing of Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty and his interview in GQ (or anyone being fired over non-work issues), then I sure hope you are not in favor of the “hire at will law” and the “right to work law” ( his contract may also have a code of conduct clause in it). Those two laws put all of the power in the companies hands. Louisiana where Duck Dynasty is filmed is a right to work state (republican backed). If you are a die-hard American who loves his/her freedoms, then You need to be against the “hire at will” and ” right to work ” laws.

Republicans talk about the erosion of their ” freedoms” and are in favor of ” hire at will” and “right to work” laws, yet they are unable to connect the dots when it’s their ideology for more power to employers that’s taking away your freedoms ( you can not have it both ways). You may not think there’s a connection, but slow your role and look at what states have these laws, and hear the stories of why folks are fired from their jobs in those states. It’s not the liberal media or liberals agenda that’s “taking away freedoms” , it’s the republicans idea of having ” right to work laws”, and very strong ” hire at will laws”. Democrats are against the ” hire at will laws” and “right to work laws”.

I personally do not think I am losing my ” freedoms”. But I also understand that if I say something crazy, then there are repercussions, and that can include being let go from my job ; all because of these two laws I have talked about. So next time you think Americans are ” losing their freedoms” ; think about these two laws. Are you still in favor of them? If so , then you are not in favor of your ” freedoms”.

War on Christianity.

13 Oct

You hear from the Republican party ( who claim to be the party of family and christian values) that there is a war on Christianity. As a Liberal, I will have to agree with them. Anyone who would want programs cut or decimated to help the poor, elderly, children, and disabled are attacking the values and beliefs of a Christian.

Ask yourself this, Who would want such programs defunded or decimated? Take a look at who is writing up these bills to be voted on. It all goes back to those people who claim to be of christian and family values, the republicans. Any chance they get to cut cost on government spending, it’s all programs that help those that Jesus would say need the most help.

Who had the clause to shut down the government if they didn’t get their way? The republicans did this. They get to keep their gym on capital hill open, all the while cancer patients get turned away because there is a partial government shutdown. Republicans are also doing what the terrorists want done to this great country America. They are hurting the economy by shutting down parts of the government, not trying to get laws passed to have corporations send jobs back to America, and ignoring the cry of the poor, all the while helping those who need no help ( filthy rich).

Yes republicans you are right about a war on Christianity, and the republicans are the root cause of the war. Your political beliefs and core values are against all Christian beliefs, look in the mirror when you talk about a war on Christianity.

Change yourself, others will follow.

15 Sep

Folks, we are all in this together. I am talking about the game called life. We can help each other, or have the mindset of letting others suffer. We can think that our help will be the domino effect that will change this world. Or we can think that “no one helped me, why should I give a helping hand?”. I hate to break it to you, but no one does anything on their own. No matter how much you want to believe that, it’s impossible.

There are some people who think that those who are homeless, choose to be homeless. They have this arrogant attitude that all homeless people want free food , clothes, and money for nothing in exchange. I do not care why the homeless are homeless, but no one chooses to live in the elements for free stuff. Some are homeless due to drugs, mental illness, or the economy (loss of jobs).

I feel it’s our duty to help feed them and clothe them. No matter how hard you have it, the homeless have it worse. It does not cost much to have a person bottled water, sandwiches, snack bars, fruits, boiled eggs, left overs from your fridge, and so on… I challenge you to stop thinking about yourself, and to help a homeless person each and everyday for the rest of your life. How difficult is it to roll down your window, smile hand over some food and make someones day better? Some people think this is enabling the homeless by letting them eat or be warm from the elements. Once you fall into the homeless system, it’s very difficult to get out of it. You need an address to get a job.

I say to you, challenge yourself to help  feed and clothe the homeless. Challenge others to do the same. Make it contagious. We go to a home, to a family, to a sofa with a T.V. The homeless have nothing. We have a toilet , they have the outdoors and wild animals that can be dangerous.

So please, change yourself and others will do the same. We are all in this together.

Congress proved my point.

27 Apr

This past week a part of the sequester ( cuts in gov. subsidized programs to save money) affected some very rich and powerful people. God forbid if they have to sacrifice with the poor and humble folks of this great nation. Some of the programs that are taking a good hit are cancer patients ( they are being turned away from treatment), unemployment and food stamps ( I think), department of defence , and the FAA (delayed flights). Guess which one the super rich and powerful got all up in arms about? You got it, it was the flight delays.

Super rich and powerful Americans hate to sacrifice and be inconvenienced. They will throw fits and yell until they get their way. They are like that spoiled kid in your class that no one liked. A few congressmen and wealthy businessmen ( who complained to congress) had to sit and wait for their flight delay and hated it so much that they all reversed the cuts to the FAA in less than 2 hours. Do you think they reversed the cuts to the cancer patients? Heck no, they are sacrificing for the American good. Why? Because they are poor and it does not affect the rich and powerful.

The poor and powerless sacrifice 24/7 365. A segment of America hates to be inconvenienced even if it helps the rest of America. A certain group only cares about themselves.  If this does not want you to change the way America works, then I do not think anything will get you motivated to flip the switch.

If a law affects the poor and powerless, then it’s a great sacrifice for the American good. If a law affects the rich and powerful, then it’s class warfare and is unfair, and trust me they will change that law so they are not inconvenienced. If the rich and powerful profit from a law , then it’s capitalism at its best and a good profit motive law. If the poor and powerless profit from a law, then it’s people taking advantage of the American system. It’s people living off of the government. It’s people sucking off of the governments teat.

Whats it going to take for you to say you have had enough of the double standard?

Too much snow on the roof.

21 Feb

I am sitting in my house while it is snowing outside. I have about 12″ plus of snow on the roof of my house. If there is too much weight on a roof, it will break or come crashing down. All homes need little weight at the top and a strong foundation for the house to last a very long time. That is also the same for our economy.

Right now corporations and top executives are making record profits while the rest of us are suffering and living paycheck to paycheck. This is not because of lazy workers or lack of education, it’s due to the top being addicted to greed and power. So few have way too much power and money for the economy to survive at the current condition. At some point this economy will come crashing down fast and hard. The working poor is growing at an alarming rate while becoming more and more financially unstable.

Here is an article I found on the web talking about minimum wages from 1968 compared to todays standard of living. Minimum wages in 1968 was $1.60 and if it kept up with inflation and cost of living , minimum wage today would be $16.50 at the minimum. Instead it’s at $7.35 an hour. http://blog.ourfuture.org/20130219/40-of-americans-now-under-former-minimum-wage .

How was it possible for the country to survive off of the wages back then and the corporations say they can’t pay better today? Yes the cost of living was lower back then, but in comparison to todays standards, wages were at a much higher percentage rate back in 1968 then today.  Too many people are brainwashed into thinking that we have to bow down to the few who are very powerful and very rich. That is not the case, we can stand together and demand a better life. We are the hardest workers and the richest nation in this world. There is no reason we can’t build a better and stronger foundation. Or this roof will come crashing down.

There is a reason the wealthy live in gated communities. They do not want to see the weak foundation they have built while the roof has been built beyond weight-bearing capacity.

How to fix the debt. From my angle.

24 Sep

All you hear about is how Congress is in a stalemate. It’s gotten real bad the last 3 years. From the right all they want to do is make huge cuts or get rid of programs with small tax rates. Even if you get rid of programs the past debt is still sitting there. No thanks to Grover Norquist and the Tea Party, the taxes are very hard to raise to bring in revenue. The left wants to do some cuts , but maybe not enough and they want to raise taxes. Raising taxes is picking on the wealthy and punishing success if you are a republican.

The spending from both parties is so out of hand. It just sickens me to think how much they spend and borrow, and all they can do is blame the other person. All the while we as a nation are so financially weak, we could be punked by other nations. By then it will be too late and having all of those cars in your big garages will not matter.

If your house hold gets deep in debt for what ever reason, you trim costs and try to find more revenue ( either ask for more hours or get a second job). This is what Congress needs to do. Here is where my idea comes in.

To please the tea party and all of the Grover’s in this would, leave the Bush tax rates as they are. To please both parties just cut 3% of the spending on all programs but social security and maybe just 2% on military. Do not cut  more or get rid of any programs. Heck even cut 5% on government subsidies. Stop paying other countries money all together. Most of them hate us in the first place.

Now this is where we get more revenue to pay down the debt. Use a regressive consumer tax rate. Have a 3% tax on all non perishable goods sold in the U.S.A. if that item is $1,000 or less. If it’s $1,000.01 up to $10,000 make it 2% and anything over $10,000 charge 1%. Now the whole world will help this great country pay down our debt. If someone in Europe comes over here to visit and buys anything other than food, they helped pay down the debt. If something is ordered on the internet and they live outside America, they helped pay down the debt. If someone here works for cash, they to will help pay down the debt. If someone is unemployed , they will help pay down the debt when they go buy a nice outfit for their interview. Illegal immigrants will help pay down the debt when they spend cash on clothes or cars.

Try this on a 3 year trial to see if it works. If it does keep it going and if not, it’s better than what we have now ( which is nothing but arguing). Plus using a consumer tax also keeps the income tax down that so many folks on the right complain about. It also puts the whole world in play to help our problem.

If you want something to work, you will find a way no matter what it takes. If you want it to fail, you will find every excuse in the book and do nothing but blame others.

Who depends on the Government?

22 Sep

I decided to write this blog while at work ( I am writing it at home off from work). It all stems from Mitt Romney saying the lower 47% depends on the federal government for help. Well from what I have found out from my studying this comment, I came to the conclusion that everyone depends on the federal government, even politicians when they retire ( free paychecks and free healthcare for life from our taxes).

I started looking at numbers and what not. Yes most of the money spent is on these ( welfare,Medicare,Medicaid, food stamps) grouped into one group health and human services) $893 billion for 2012. Have the economy pick up ( jobs with livable wages and this number will drop). Then there is Social Security $815 billion for 2012 ( most is paid for from our payroll taxes from when we worked). What’s hurting this program is the federal government dipping into this to pay for their general fund ( see even the politicians depend on the government’s money). Then there is extended unemployment benefits ( probably from the general fund), could not find any numbers on this one. The 6 month unemployment is paid for by unemployment insurance from previous employer, not YOUR PAYCHECK. Any unemployment that is more than 6 months does come from the government. Yes there are people who takes advantage of these programs because they are lazy. But most are people who want to do better, and most are retired folks who did the best they could with what they had, so stop condemning the 47%.

Now here is the rest of my story. Subsidies paid to industries is not as big of a number as I first thought, but they do have a number. That to me says that even big rich entities rely on the federal government for help. The agricultural industry is looking at $140 billion for 2012. The biggest receivers in 2011 were the states of Iowa, Illinois, and Texas in that order. Most farms are now ran by corporations, the family farmers are the minority. Then there is the energy sector, looking at $43 billion for 2012. Exxon Mobil made $41 billion in profits in 2011, why do they need government help? The transportation industry is looking at $90 billion for 2012. That includes the airline, train, and bus industries. Bailouts for the airlines and trains have been going on for decades. It also includes the maintenance of the roads, airports, and rail yards.

Now onto the banks of America. Subsidies for the banking industry started way back in 1913, I think this was before President Obama was President ( I may be wrong in the eyes of the tea party or GOP folks). Since 1913 the banks have gotten subsidies totaling $7.77 trillion folks, imagine that. And people get catty over food stamps and welfare? Since 2007 the big six banks; JP MORGAN, BANK OF AMERICA, CITIGROUP, WELLS FARGO, GOLDMAN SACHS, MORGAN STANLEY has received over $460 billion in subsidies. The banking industry accounts for 63% of the daily debt to the government for this and borrowing money that we do not even hear about. And people think grandma and grandpa on social security are the nations debt problem ? Really?  Subsidies are for 3 reasons. 1 to stop an industry from going under ( record profits in most industries), 2 for keeping the costs down ( costs of goods are higher now), 3 to stimulate the industries to hire( unemployment is at a 50 yr high).

Now the military spending. I am all for the military, we need to keep AMERICA safe not the world. I was also in the Air Force as well. For 2012 thee government will spend $766 billion. Now this can be cut down by getting out of most of the countries in the world, and stop giving money to countries that want to destroy our way of life. Send our troops home and protect AMERICA.

Remember that the Congress sets the budget and decides what’s spent, not the President. Remember the government revenue is at a 60 year low, and experts say it’s because of the low tax rates set up by President Bush and extended by President Obama.

ALSO when MITT ROMNEY was head of the 2002 OLYMPICS and he is praised for fixing it, he GOT $1.5 BILLION from the federal government.

So who is DEPENDANT on the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT? My answer is everyone that lives in AMERICA.

Hope you start to see the hypocrisy in the fact that people condemn one side of AMERICA and stick up for the other side.

The 47 percent.

20 Sep

I probably am not the only person doing a blog about Mitt Romneys comments on the 47%. I am doing this blog for a few reasons. One I am one of the 47% and I am kind of upset that people think that because I make so little money that I am a lazy leach and I feel ” entitled” to get help ( I am not on food stamps or any government program and I qualify for a lot of them). Second I am going to try to articulate the hypocrisy of this 47% theory. I may not have the facts 100% correct, but I will try to be as accurate as I can ( the internet can have some silly numbers out there).

This is not the first time Mitt has said comments about the poor. He said something similar in an interview before.

Who are the 47% Mitt was talking about? Well they are not all democrats, some are even republicans who watch the news and believe they are the 1% because of who they vote for and stick up for the uber rich. They are independents who have been in the military and are on food stamps. They are the unemployed who are looking for a job ( some people think that their paycheck pays for someones unemployment, it’s the last company someone worked for that pays it). They are your grandparents on social security who have to decide between eating or getting their medicine. They are the working poor trying to better their lives ( that’s me). Heck Mitts dad back in the day was the 47% ( funny how Mitt has forgotten where his own dad came from). Anyone who is in the 47% no matter who you vote for should be offended for being put in a group that someone like Mitt feels it’s okay to degrade you for trying to EAT, get MEDICAL CARE, or LIVE IN A HOUSE.

So what if the 47% does not pay taxes ( I would love to be in a tax bracket that has me paying taxes, that means I’m making nice money). Is that what they republicans want? Then why is it a bad thing to not pay just because we fall in the lower-income bracket? Are we a nuisance? A throne in their side? A distraction to them while we walk down the street and they drive in their Bentley’s?

Why is it when poor need some help until they get on their feet, it’s called being lazy? Why is it called entitlements? Why are the 47% told to suck it up and sacrifice for AMERICA?

Do you know who else didn’t pay federal income taxes? Depending on where you get your information from anywhere from 4,000-7,000 millionaires didn’t pay. 24,000 people who made $500,000 didn’t pay. 14,000 people who made $100,000-$150,000 didn’t pay? Are they the 47% ? Are they the freeloaders Mitt was talking about? Is their 0% tax rate called an entitlement? When people defend these income brackets they call them “job creators”. Look at the employment, what jobs are they creating?

Also what about the over 200 companies that get government subsidies? Is that an entitlement? Or is it setting up a culture for hiring people? Look at the economy, It’s not working. A subsidy is for three reason only. Reason one ; to prevent the decline of that industry. Second ; to prevent the increase of the price of the product. Third; to have the companies hire workers. Question 1 ; are industries declining? Answer NO, most corporations are making record profits. Question 2; are the price of goods going down? Answer, NO look at your grocery bill, gas prices, clothes ect… Question 3; are corporations hiring? Answer, NO.

So why are these companies still getting government help? Are they the 47%? Why would anyone be outraged at the 47% and make excuses for the rich individuals who play the system to not pay taxes. Why would anyone not be outraged at these corporations taking advantage of the subsidies?

If anyone is on the government dole its the corporations addicted to subsidies and the folks in the income brackets I talked about before. If you are one of the wealthy who pays federal income taxes, then you are either honest or have an accountant who does not know how to cheat the system.

I praise people who play by the rules and have a comfortable lifestyle. I am not mad or upset at wealth per say. I am upset at the hypocrites who think poor are cheats and lazy, and the rich people and corporations play by the rules and make up excuses for them to cheat the system ( not all do that, but enough do).

All of this also proves to me that trickle down economics is an epic fail.

HOPE! It’s more then just a word.

19 Sep

Today my friends, I’m going to talk about the word hope. This is one word that starts out as an open ending word, and what follows this powerful word sends the meaning of the word in one direction or another.

The dictionaries definition is this ; a feeling that what is wanted will happen, desire accompanied. To want or expect. Today this word is more powerful than any other word I can think of in our vocabulary. The economy is still rough, politics are nasty as they ever been, and friends or not so good of friends use both (economy & politics) to try to make you feel inferior. They are “hoping” that you cave in and submit to their ways with not so good tactics. So HOPE in their world is of the negative ending, from my point of view.

I try to hope for a better word, less arguing, hating, stealing, hoarding, killings, ect… What sounds better to you? I HOPE HE WINS? or, I HOPE HE GETS HIS BUTT BEAT DOWN AND LOSES? I would say the first question. But there are a lot of people who think in the mindset of the second question. That to me is sad. We as a world need to finish the word HOPE with a positive ending of words. It may not fix the economy or politics, but it sure will make people feel better and not stressed out. That my friend may change minds of companies ,and they may start hiring again. Politics may calm down, your neighbor may say hello to you, your family may be happier as well.

I hope 10,000 people read this, even if they post nasty comments or disagree. I hope I can change some minds on how they think. I hope you have a healthy life. I hope you wake up happy even if you have to do something you do not like that day. I hope you can eat more than one meal a day. I hope your family is a loud one, that means they are alive and healthy. I hope you help your neighbor, even if you are not talkative with them.  I hope your heater does not break during the winter.

The only way to put HOPE into action is to change the way you think . Then act upon it with good intentions, even if you do not make a single penny off of your actions. Good HOPE will take the stress and frown lines out of your face as well. Good hope will make you more attractive to others.

Even if you are not a religious person , read PSALMS CHAPTERS 9-10. Those are so true to todays world. It will take 3 minutes to read them.

Hard working Farmers.

24 Aug

Hello, it’s me again with my 4 cents of knowledge. There are two bible verses I am going to put in this blog and then break it down from my side of the green lawn. You do not need to be a christian or religious to see where I am coming from when I break it down.

Here is the first verse PROVERBS 19:24  “Some people are too lazy to put food in their own mouths”. Now there are those who will automatically think of the poor, unemployed, and those on welfare. That’s all we hear today is that people who are poor is because they are lazy and hate work. Like I have said in the past, some of the hardest workers are the factory workers. Most laid off are laid off not from being lazy, but from a poorly mismanaged company or the greed at the top wanting that persons paycheck.

Some of the laziest people I have ever meet in my lifetime are the people with the big homes and big yards. They may have money, but they are “too lazy to put food in their own mouths”. They have people mow their yards, wash their cars, and raise their own kids. They sit behind a desk and have others do their work. All they do is give orders, while the rest is doing all the work. So next time you see a well off person, think to yourself do they feed themselves ( do physical work) or does someone feed them?

One time while I was in the 6th grade, this family that lived close to me was pretty well off in my eyes. They had their own business and had a nice sized home with 4 cars. One day the kid got a flat tire on his bike. The kid went to his father to change the flat tire. The father turned to me and asked if I could change the tire, he said he didn’t know how to fix it. He said he never had to do anything like that before. From that point on in my life, I never assumed that rich people worked hard and that poor people were lazy. Because at that moment I was the poor one and I had to do his work, right in front of his child.

Second Bible verse, PROVERBS 28:19 “A hard-working farmer has plenty to eat. People who waste time will always be poor”. To me the farmer in this verse is a person who knows how to use his hands or has a gift or skill. People who can fix cars, paint homes, build homes, raise food ( chickens or corn), fix appliances, cut hair, cook food, ect…will never ever go hungry. People who waste time are the ones who sit back belch out orders and are considered managers or C.E.O.’s. All they know what to do is scare others into doing work. Granted some of these people know how to do what “hard-working farmers” can do. but a majority have business degrees or inherited the business. They have no skills in the physical part of life, or a trade. Now if the economy falls apart, who will survive? The “hard-working farmers” ( people with a trade or skills), or the ones who wasted time ( giving orders ) ? If you have to survive out in the wild the person with skills will eat all day, while the person who gave orders will starve. Think about it.
